Trying some new textures on hats!

Now that Fall weather is coming, I am really feeling like it is getting time to get some more hats going! I have tried several with some different yarn and textures and like how they are turning out.

This one is warm and fuzzy and multi colored I embellished it with a cute pink felted flower.

My cute little model liked this one, I think because it was so soft.

Here is another one done in a chunky variegated yarn and of course the flower gives it the little "pop" that it needs.

This one is just a simple crocheted hat with a ribbon weaved through it, I like simple sometimes.
This one was an experiment. I tried using some strips of fabric that I joined together and then crocheted into this hat. I had some blue and white  knit and added some yellow knit fabric to it. I then added a fabric flower that I had made.  It definitely gives a new texture dimension, rather than just yarn. It was fun to try some different textures and I had the perfect little model to try them out on.
What do you think?

A Kindle bag!

I wish I had a Kindle, I love to read and I love all of the cool features they have. If I had one I would definitely want it to have a comfy home like this. I was asked to do a special order for a Kindle bag. It had to be about the size of a Kindle and have a nice strap on it to hang on your shoulder, so if you were on the go and wanted to put your story down you could just slip it in the bag and then pick up reading when you were finished doing whatever it was that you were doing.

This is what I came up with, I nice felted comfy bag for your Kindle!!

It had to look like it belonged to a girl, and because flowers are so cute on bags, it had to have that as the embellishment.

The leaves were sewn on and the bottom petals were sewn with the machine and then I did the rest with a needle and thread.

I made a pocket to go on the back so you could stash, ear phones or whatever needed to be stashed.

The front flap has a magnetic snap, it looks like a button but the snap is underneath.

Here is my version of a Kindle bag! Happy reading to all you Kindle owners out there. I think this is making me want to have one. Maybe if I make another bag the Kindle will come :)

A gift for Violet

My Nephew's wife is going to have a baby girl and she already has a name! They are going to name her Violet, (isn't that the sweetest name!) I had to make sweet Violet a gift and of course I thought it should be Violet!
I made these cute little shoes and decided to put a felted flower on the toe with 3 small beads for the flower center. I then thought I should probably make a hat to match.
I kind of made up the hat pattern but wanted to weave a ribbon through it so I made a double crochet  near the bottom of the hat to weave the ribbon through. I also made a felted flower clip to attach so you can either clip it to the hat, clip it in her hair or clip it to whatever clothing she would be wearing. I think I  have a new favorite color! Violet!
I finished making these cute sunflower shoes as well, I just need to make a hat to match. Oh, wouldn't a large sunflower on the hat look oh, so cute! I better get busy and get working on the hat. You never know when I will need another baby gift!
Can't wait for Violet to make her arrival!

Waiting for the weather!

The weather has been so cold and rainy that I haven't been able to finish my outside project. So, I decided to finish a hat I have made for a great photographer! You can check out her photography at this site http://bouncinbabyphotography.com/
I love her pictures and this hat is going to look so cute on her cute little clients!

I did take a picture of my cute grand daughter and the hat is knitted and is very stretchy so it would fit most any little head size.
It could be worn just plain.
I have made these clips that can be interchangeable on the hat, so you get a different look with each one.

This one is more of a spring color.
I like the black and white because it really makes the colors pop!
This is a double row crocheted flower.

Here is the single row flower that is crocheted. I like how it turned out and can't wait to see it on a cute little newborns head! Maybe the sun will come out today so I can finish my outside projects!!

Fun with felted wool!

Try saying fun with felted felt 3 times.
I have been experimenting with some different ways to use the felted wool. This bag was made from  felted wool and I tried different sized circles to make the flowers. What is it about flowers?  You just have to accent everything you make with some version of a flower? (well, anyway I do.)
When you make a bag you have to have plenty of pockets so I made a large one to go on the back.

Here is the close up of the different designs that I used with my sewing machine. All of the sewing is done with a straight stitch and the embroidery was done by hand with black embroidery floss and of course cute little buttons.I stitched all of the same color at the same time so you don't have to keep switching the colors of your thread. Have the design ahead of time in your head or on paper and then just cut out simple circles, leaf shapes, and narrow strips for the stems.
Then add the starburst flowers with your embroidery thread and add a little button to make the teeny flowers.I lined it with black cotton and made several pockets inside. I then used a magnetic closure to close it!
I like the way the colors turned out with this bag and it is amazing what you can put together by putting simple shapes together!

Have a Happy Monday!!

I'm thinking Spring!

I decided to make a fabric Spring hat because it is just feeling like it should be SPRING!I lined the hat with a coordinating striped fabric and made the flower out of both fabrics. the price for this one is $12.00 I then decided to make some springy shoes did you know that this color of blue turqoise is the color for this year! I then thought I better make some boy ones to match.  These are also $12.00I did some experimenting with the felt flowers for head bands. They are on a clip so you can interchange them on any color of headband, hat ,bag or anything you would want to clip it on.The cost for these are $3.50 for the flower clip and $.50 for the band.I have a hard time coming up with as cute of ideas for boys but I thought this cap turned out okay. I probably would make the visor a little narrower but it would be great to keep the sun off of a cute little baby face. cost for this one is $10.00
So I hope this gets you inspired for SPRING! I can't wait until all of our snow is gone. Yes, we still have snow!!

Some new ideas

I have been working on some new ideas for spring and summer. Of course when spring comes you think of handbags and a cute easter bonnet  (well not necessarily a bonnet but maybe a cute flower headband.)

This first one is a child's handbag and matching headband.
The handbag is $8.00
The headband is $5.00
They are made out of embroidered fleece and the handbag is lined with pink and white striped cotton.
This bag is made from felted recycled wool and the outside is decorated with felted wool flowers. $35.00
This bag is hand knitted felted wool and the flowers are felted wool as well. $45.00

This is also a handknitted felted wool bag and the flower is felted wool. $45.00
I have some more felted wool flower headbands that will be coming so keep checking so you can have a cute spring bonnet as well. Of course I will do special orders if requested. Have a great day!
