a new model in the family!

I have been knitting and crocheting lately and I also tried my first sweater. I actually made this sweater at the first of the summer and I was saving it for a special someone who was supposed to be born in September.  He decided he couldn't wait until September and came on August 31st! I had my trip planned for this last week so when I first met him he was already 2 weeks old!

I made a little hat for him.

and this little sweater.  The pattern was for a newborn and this sweater looked pretty tiny when I finished it.

and sure enough it was pretty tiny.
Little Jack is just 2 weeks old but he was a big baby, so I am thinking I am needing to make a little bigger sweater. It will maybe fit him today but I am not sure about tomorrow.

It has been cold here, so he could actually wear it but the sleeves are a little short and it is snug around his middle.

Isn't he just the sweetest little chunker!

I really did rotate these pictures but when they uploaded they went back to the way they were.

"Grandma, make me a bigger sweater!'

We also celebrated my daughter (in law) I hesitate saying (in law) because she feels like she is my daughter, but it was her birthday and I made this hat for her. She is a major BYU fan and today is probably not the day to show this post,  because after last night she is probably in mourning, and this won't be as fun for her.
She did love the hat though!

I also made this owl hat for a friend who is having a baby soon!!

I hope she loves this fuzzy owl hat!

This is another hat I made for her.

It is the time of year to start making those sweaters and hats.
I will just have to re adjust some of my measurements, but I was so happy to make my first sweater!

Do you think you need a winter hat on Memorial Day?

I hope everyone had a very happy Memorial Day weekend!  We have been out of town for a few days having fun in Island Park (just outside of West Yellowstone.)  Before I left I wondered what weather of clothes I should pack. I decided to throw in some winter clothes because who knows what the weather will be like in the mountains.  I am sure glad that I did because it was pretty much winter the whole time we were there.
Here is a picture off of the deck of the cabin we stayed in. Yes, the die hard fishermen in my family still went out on the lake fishing!

I guess the fish don't mind the cold because the fishing was successful!

Even the bears were in the snow!

We spent most of the time inside or if we were outside we were bundled up!
Come on! It is almost the first of June!
At the last minute I threw in this hat that I had been working on.

It is knit and I liked the band that wrapped around and buttoned. I kind of made up the pattern, but liked how it turned out.

On my early morning runs this hat was greatly appreciated by my ears.
I have another hat that I have been working on.

This one was a special order for a little girl whose Dad is a BIG UTAH fan!
He can't wait for football season to start so his little princess can wear this.( I bet after this weekend he didn't have to wait!)

I made up this pattern as well and used an eyelash yarn to crochet around the edge. I then used my embroidery machine to make the "U". (Can I tell you how much I love that embroidery machine! It makes sewing so much fun!)
I hope your Memorial Day weekend was warm, and dry, because mine sure wasn't!

My unconventional model

This little boy is the sweetest little baby and he loves to be cuddled and has such a good nature about him. I love his sweet innocence and I love being his grandmother. I hope later in his life he will be forgiving of his crazy grandma.
I have nine grandsons and three granddaughters and all of my granddaughters live far away so when I need a model for my cute girly things I have to travel to their homes, (which is far away for a weekend trip.)

He was at my home this weekend and I had just finished knitting a cute girly hat.

So, I tried it on him! I did leave his little baseball outfit on though.

He made the perfect little model and if  he didn't have his baseball outfit on you would think that he was a cute girly girl.

Well, I can kind of see the boy coming through but he is adorable. (I am a little biased.)

I can't wait to try this hat on one of my granddaughters though with their cute little girly hair and faces.

Just one more picture taking out the navy blue and replacing the color with some light blue from the hat.
I love his little drool.

This hat was quick to make up and I loved the rolled flower on it.

Trevor thanks for being such a good sport and later on in life I promise we won't show this in your wedding video!

Waiting for the weather!

The weather has been so cold and rainy that I haven't been able to finish my outside project. So, I decided to finish a hat I have made for a great photographer! You can check out her photography at this site http://bouncinbabyphotography.com/
I love her pictures and this hat is going to look so cute on her cute little clients!

I did take a picture of my cute grand daughter and the hat is knitted and is very stretchy so it would fit most any little head size.
It could be worn just plain.
I have made these clips that can be interchangeable on the hat, so you get a different look with each one.

This one is more of a spring color.
I like the black and white because it really makes the colors pop!
This is a double row crocheted flower.

Here is the single row flower that is crocheted. I like how it turned out and can't wait to see it on a cute little newborns head! Maybe the sun will come out today so I can finish my outside projects!!
