Projects for the week

I had a couple of special orders this week and I want to share!  The first was for a kindle bag for a 12 year old girl.  She wanted it bright and colorful so I chose the lavender and navy blue.

I added a strapand some flowers with polka dot buttons.

The leaves are made from felted wool and they are sewn on with my sewing machine. I forgot to show the detail in the bag, (sorry it has already been shipped and is gone, just try to imagine it.) but the inside was made from a striped fabric and had a pocket to hold any small items.

I layered the flowers and added the cute polka dot button.

You can kind of see the sewing on the leaves now.

I hope she likes it and enjoys reading with her new kindle bag.

I then made these little button loafers for a cute little baby boy.

Trimmed them in white and added a white button.
I was glad to get them in the mail for the special occasions!

Hope your week is great!

A Kindle bag!

I wish I had a Kindle, I love to read and I love all of the cool features they have. If I had one I would definitely want it to have a comfy home like this. I was asked to do a special order for a Kindle bag. It had to be about the size of a Kindle and have a nice strap on it to hang on your shoulder, so if you were on the go and wanted to put your story down you could just slip it in the bag and then pick up reading when you were finished doing whatever it was that you were doing.

This is what I came up with, I nice felted comfy bag for your Kindle!!

It had to look like it belonged to a girl, and because flowers are so cute on bags, it had to have that as the embellishment.

The leaves were sewn on and the bottom petals were sewn with the machine and then I did the rest with a needle and thread.

I made a pocket to go on the back so you could stash, ear phones or whatever needed to be stashed.

The front flap has a magnetic snap, it looks like a button but the snap is underneath.

Here is my version of a Kindle bag! Happy reading to all you Kindle owners out there. I think this is making me want to have one. Maybe if I make another bag the Kindle will come :)

I have been traveling!!

I am in New York this week and before I left I decided I needed a bag to carry my laptop. I needed to have something that I could protect my laptop and still be small enough to fit in my carry-on luggage.  So I decided to make one out of an up-cycled wool felted sweater. It was soft and should do just the trick!
I can't make anything without putting flowers on it, so of course it has flowers!!! I don't think any guy will wonder if this lap top belongs to a WOMAN!
I cut out the felted wool and the leaves were sewn with my sewing machine. I layered the flowers and topped it off with a cute button.
I lined it with fleece, (to make it nice and soft.) Then I added a tab with a button hole and added another button to keep it nice and snug inside.
I loved how the leaves turned out by sewing just a single stitch up the middle of the leaf.
It made a nice little home for my little laptop and it made it so nice to not have an extra bag to carry. I was able to stick it in my carry-on and it made it safe and sound! You will have to check back to see more of what I am going to make because I have a ton of ideas floating around in my head after visiting the design capital of the United States!
