Making a modest swimsuit

I had bought this swimsuit earlier this year and it was a little low in the front and I liked how cute it was and thought it could easily be  made more modest. I bought some stretchy swim suit fabric at the fabric store and placed it where I wanted  it to go.  Black seemed the obvious choice of fabric. I used the lines that were already sewn in the neck line and just used some matching thread and sewed it in place.

Because the fabric does not ravel, I just trimmed the fabric close to the lines that I had sewn.

After it was trimmed it looked like this.

Now the little insert is in place!

See how I used the existing lines to sew in on.

There, I feel so much more modest!

Not that I have to worry about much falling out but now I really have no worries!

What a clever idea - I never thought of altering a swimsuit! I have yet to find one that I like since having my daughter 6 years ago... the ones that look the 'best' don't hold the 'girls' in very well though... I am going to have to look for some stretchy swimsuit fabric and try this myself!!! Thanks for the idea; p.s. I found you via the Penny Pinching Party at The Thrifty Home! :) Nice to meet you, and God Bless!

I have altered a lot of things but, never a swim suit. Thank you for expanding my horizons!

I have the same problem with one of my swimsuits and have been using a black tank top, but this makes so much more sense! Thanks!

A great look. I wish more suits were actually designed this way. Thanks for sharing.
